Brantford is a city in Ontario, Canada, with a population of 104,688 people as of 2021. It was founded on the Grand River in Southwestern Ontario. Brant County borders it, but it is politically distinct, with its own municipal administration that is completely independent of the county.
Because the city’s renowned inhabitant, Alexander Graham Bell, who created the first telephone at his father’s property, Melville House, now the Bell Homestead, located on Tutela Heights south of the city, Brantford is known as the “Telephone City.”
The invention of the telephone had a deep impact on the city’s economy, and many industries were built here back on the success of the new technology. Now, Brantford is a synonym for innovation around the area with many industries, businesses, and educational institutions.
